5. SUPPORTING INDIGENOUS LAND DEFENCE (PLANNED EVENT) 

WED DEC 7TH, EVENING. Location TBD 

A large gathering focused on Indigenous Land Defense, with the main
focus on supporting the Algonquins of Barriere Lake. Will also feature
Standing Rock, Chaudiere Falls, the Treaty Alliance Against Tar Sands
Expansion, and The Dominion magazine Summer 2016 Special Issue on Land
Defense "Warrior Up!" 

Featuring speakers, short films, multimedia (slideshows), singers/drums 

Fundraiser for ABL land defence; also to build connections with
out-of-towners here for AFN meetings, and to mobilize local communities
and help connect support/solidarity networks

(How to use the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples and
International Processes)

December 5, 2016  (9:00 a.m - 4:30 p.m.)
Location: Salon Royal, Hilton Lac Leamy (Casino Side)

A one-day dialogue session that will focus on how to engage with the UN
Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples to advance First
Nations' rights. We will discuss new developments with international
mechanisms; review how First Nations can participate in the upcoming
review of Canada by the Committee for the Elimination of Racial
Discrimination (CERD); and, share tools for implementing the UN
Declaration in your Nation.  Registration is open to all and lunch is
provided.

1. Engaging with Specific Rights - Deepening Understanding of the United
Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples - Paul Joffe,
