(Dec. 4) -- Today, water protectors in Standing Rock won a reprieve,
when the Obama administration announced that the permit to construct the
pipeline under Lake Oahe (the Missouri River) has been denied, pending
an (as yet undefined) environmental impact study. The pipeline itself
has not been stopped permanently.
WE ARE POSTPONING OUR DECEMBER 5 #NODAPL DIRECT ACTION, PROVISIONALLY TO
JANUARY 20TH, OR EARLIER/ASAP IF ENERGY TRANSFER PARTNERS CONTINUES
DRILLING WITHOUT A PERMIT. WE CALL FOR OUR SUPPORTERS TO STAY UPDATED,
AND TO JOIN US AT THE DECEMBER 5 RALLY AGAINST KINDER MORGAN AT 3H30 PM
ON PARLIAMENT HILL: https://www.facebook.com/events/276625229401814/

The purpose of this action was to target banks funding the Dakota Access
Pipeline -- TD, RBC, and Scotiabank. We will keep up pressure on these
banks. We will wait on further details from frontline communities on
what the decision in North Dakota means and how it will play out in
practice, especially after the Trump regime in the US begins.
According to one observer, today's decision means that the US government
"will do a limited Environmental Impact Study before allowing the
drilling. The EIS could take months, by which time Trump will be
president and they hope all the water protectors leave so they can
finish the pipeline quietly with no media attention." ( See:

We honour the thousands of people who have dedicated themselves to this
struggle over many months in the face of massive state and corporate
violence, and the over 2,000 veterans who pledged to act as human
shields to protect them this weekend.
This show of unity, strength and creativity gives us inspiration for the
upcoming struggles in Canada (and locally on Algonquin territory)
against the Kinder Morgan, Energy East and Line 3 pipelines, as well as
the many other destructive mining, LNG and fracking projects that the
federal and provincial governments support. The challenge may be even
bigger than we imagined. On the same day as this victory, the Trudeau
government began beating the drum to revive the Keystone XL tar sands
project with the like-minded Donald Trump. See:

STAY TUNED FOR MORE DETAILS ON WHAT'S TO COME AND JOIN OUR CAMPAIGN TO
"BRING STANDING ROCK TO CANADA", AS WE CONTINUE TO SUPPORT THE FIGHT
AGAINST THE DAKOTA ACCESS PIPELINE, AS WELL AS ALL OTHER DIRTY ENERGY
PROJECTS IN SO-CALLED CANADA.
