*Idle No More Youth Forum - Ottawa-Gatineau*
*9 am - 4 pm, January 25, 2013*
*Ottawa Convention Centre, Room 205. Closest to Rideau Centre entrance*

As Idle No More continues to grow across Canada and the world, the
Indigenous (First Nations, Metis & Inuit) youth voice needs to be louder
and stronger than ever before.

For the purpose of this Youth Forum, the proposed age requirements will be
13-30. All nations, creeds and genders will be invited to this important
forum to engage in the immediate need to educate the youth on the recent
Bills being passed through legislation, the creation and goals of Idle No
More, Chief Theresa Spence’s Hunger Strike and spiritual awakening, a
history of colonization and most importantly youth to youth empowerment and
growth. Collaborating with all youth, non-Indigenous and Indigenous is a
key goal for this Forum as well as in future relationship building.

This Forum will be for youth, by youth. The discussions, findings, and
demands from this first Youth Forum will be used as a template for future
Idle No More Youth Forums as well as utilized in Municipal, Provincial,
National and International meeting regarding consideration of development
and/or reconstruction of policies and programs that directly affect
Indigenous Youth of Turtle Island.

*#J28 Day of Action against Harper Conservatives with Idle No More and
Common Causes
11:00 am. January 28, 2013
Victoria Island, Ottawa, Algonquin Territory*
On January 28th when Canadian MPs return to the House of Commons, we will
greet them with a strong message.

Across the country and around the globe there is a new kind of movement
against the Harper Conservatives.

Common Causes - a new initiative bringing together social justice,
environmental, labour and other activist groups is organizing for a global
day of peaceful action to fight back against targeted attacks by this
government on indigenous communities, environment protection, our public
services, worker’s rights, a women’s right to choose, workers, charitable
organizations, civil liberties, migrant and immigrant and refugee rights.

Among the many groups in our large coalition, Idle No More, is
participating on January 28th and have chosen to make it a day of action
for their cause. Our cause is the same.

This day of action will include anchor events in Vancouver, Edmonton,
Saskatoon, Windsor, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and Halifax. This event will
see organizers from Idle No More partnering with folks from the Council of
Canadians, environmental groups, trade unions, health care advocates and
many more. We encourage you to organize your own event to show solidarity
or to attend an Idle no More event near you.

About Common Causes:

Common Causes is an assembly of social movements dedicated to defending
democracy, the environment, and human rights. In keeping with the values of
the significant majority of peoples who reside in Canada, Quebec, and on
Indigenous lands, we will provide alternatives to the current Conservative
government's agenda. We believe that coordinated action is needed to take a
strong stand against this agenda. We invite you to join our community of
local, regional, and national movements and individuals to work together
for the change we need.
