URGENT ACTION ALERT:
Chief Theresa Spence, now in day 12 of her hunger strike, has called for a
round dance at Harper's residence (24 Sussex Drive, Ottawa) for 2:00 pm
TODAY, Saturday Dec 22nd.
Please forward this message widely, and attend if you can!
BACKGROUND ON CHIEF THERESA SPENCE HUNGER STRIKE:
Attawapiskat Chief Theresa Spence has been on ongoing hunger strike for
nearly two weeks now, demanding a meeting for her and other First Nation
leaders with both Prime Minister Harper and the Governor General (as
representative of the Crown) and provincial authorities.
She is staying at Victoria Island (between Ottawa and Hull, just upstream
of Parliament Hill). There is a need for support, in the form of firewood
and food donations (food for her helpers), and for helpers who can provide
security at the site. Donations can be dropped off at Victoria Island, or
to arrange to help out please call Jason at (613) 806-6918.
