music, art, and performances!!
Speaker for Families of Sisters In Spirit : Beverley Jacobs
MP for Ottawa Centre Paul Dewar & Trevor Hache, NDP candidate for
Ottawa-Vanier and Scott Bradley Liberal candidate for Ottawa Center will
also be saying a few words!
The event will feature traditional Aboriginal and non-traditional foods,
performances by 8 year old hoop da...ncer Theland and his mother drummer
and singer Elaine Kicknosway, Ms. Giselle, Bella Straight, Lady G and
David Finkle (http://www.myspace.com/davidfinkleflute) (with more to
come!), an art auction featuring the works of Aileen Joseph, Jessica
Pinto, Kristine Neglia, Theo Pelmus, and much more!
Admission by donation. Two-spirit and queer friendly.

The 1st Annual Families of Sisters in Spirit Fundraiser will take place
after a memorial vigil 6 -7 pm on Victoria Island, Ottawa. The vigil will
mark the nineth anniversary of the unsolved murder of Terrie Ann
Dauphinais, a young Aboriginal mother who was murdered in her home outside
Calgary. Terrie Ann is loved, missed, and remembered everyday by those who
knew her and those who are inspired by her life and her story. The vigil
will also be a space to honour and remember other victims of homicide,
disappearance, and violence across Canada. A fb group has been set up for

Families of Sisters in Spirit is a new grassroots non-profit led by
families of missing and murdered Aboriginal women and girls. We held a Day
of Justice rally on February 14th on Parliament Hill (footage:

This forest is a unique wilderness is so special is has caused scientists
from the US to consider it a potential world heritage site, and it saw
warriors of peace tend a Scared Fire at the Beaver Pond this winter and
again at Queen’s Park, Toronto in –30 weather. Why was the SMH area in
Ottawa one of the top ten news stories for 2010 the Ottawa Citizen?
...For a fast paced, informative evening, join us on may 3rd to hear
special guest Grandfather William Commanda, founder of A Circle of All
Nations, and several other presenters.

of all ages to visit the forest through pictures and presentations, to
view a professional movie segment, and to share an understanding of how

This event celebrates education week, celebrates the many gifts of
Ottawa’s Great Forest and it just might provide a path for you to help
shape the future as you envision it should be.
