The Canadian Human Rights Tribunal investigating
allegations of discrimination against First Nations children by the
Government of Canada has been adjourned until Monday, Nov. 16, 2009.
The complaint against the Attorney General of Canada (representing the
Minister of Indian and Northern Affairs) was filed by the First Nations
Child and Family Caring Society (FNCFCS) and the Assembly of First Nations
(AFN).
On November 16 the tribunal will resume with testimony from FNCFCS
Executive Director Cindy Blackstock.
On behalf of KAIROS, the FNCFCS and the AFN, I'd like to extend profound
and sincere thanks to everyone who responded so positively when asked to
support the process by attending the tribunal hearing, and / or by
registering as a "witness" on the <www.fnwitness.ca> web site.
Mark November 16 on your calendars. REminders will be sent out closer to
the date.
