The Hosgenegehta [Haudenosaunee Mens Fire] Speaking in Ottawa
Phillip Skye will be speaking for the men's fire
Ever since the level of activity at the reclamation site at Caledonia
diminished about a year ago, many non-native supporters have been unclear
about how to build ongoing links in solidarity with the Six Nations
struggle.
Unfortunately, while many non-native supporters were quite familiar with
the reclamation, very few people in our community including those who
are more politically active seem to know anything about the dozens of
developments that have been blocked in Brantford, or how to support those
people facing legal charges from their activity in defending Six Nations
land and the environment that we all share.
The event will be used as a way to raise awareness and funds for the work
by the Mens Fire to halt development on the Haldimand tract and to
support the legal costs of
the more than 100 people who have been criminally charged for defending
their land rights.

We are releasing these invitations from Grandfather William Commanda's
hospital bed at the Queensway Carleton where he is undergoing treatment
for a sudden attack of internal bleeding.
With his Thunderbird energy, we are expecting that:
1. He will be at Rideau Hall on May 15, to be invested as Officer of the
Order of Canada by the Governor General of Canada, and then be on Victoria
Island for the Order of Canada March 16, 2 pm Celebration being organized
by Jerry Lanouette, to which you are all invited (please rsvp him at Jerry
Lanouette; jlanouette at aboriginalcanada.ca
2. He will preside over his Circle of All Nations May 22 - 24 Sustainable
Relationships Workshop hosted with Plenty Canada and the Wolf Project - a
microcosmic version of his blueprint for the good life, and a snapshot of
the famous August Spiritual Gatherings at his home in Kitigan Zibi Please
register by May 18!
3. He and other Elders and Pipe Carriers will host the annual Circle of
All Nations Pipe Ceremony at Victoria Island on June 21st.
In addition, he will commemorating the June 11 Anniversary of Canada's
Apology to the First Peoples and the June 14 National Heritage River Day
at the Sacred Chaudiere Site.
Please help us get this message out to other friends and colleagues. If
you have not heard from me directly, please don't mind - my email lists
are not consolidated right now, despite my best efforts!
We know you will all hold Grandfather in your thoughts and prayers at this
stressful time. He has worked alone tirelessly, and at some considerable
personal cost, over many decades, to include so many people of diverse
backgrounds and interests in his world - and it is amazing how intimately
he knows each of us; many of us may not see the same strengths and gifts
in each other that he does, but he is powerful in his conviction that we
can all achieve our personal bests and together rethread the sacred hoop
of the medicine wheel, and strengthen the dreamcatcher network with our
unique contributions. He knows Aboriginal Peoples are perhaps a small 4
per cent of the population in this country, and with his other allies in
support of environmental stewardship, racial harmony and peace building
and Indigenous issues, we are still a tiny voice in the larger global
community - but he knows as we knit together, we will impact significantly
on our world.
Come animate the spirit of Ginawaydaganuc at the Sacred Chaudiere Site
this summer, put Indigenous back in the Centre, and celebrate a Circle of
All Nations a Culture of Peace with him!
He sends you all his love and best wishes.

Dear SAIA allies
Thank you to everyone who was able to make it to our protest of the
Israel@ 61 celebration. Our message that ethnic cleansing and apartheid
are nothing to celebrate was loud and clear.
Here is a video from the event:

As well=2C during Israeli Apartheid Week 2009=2C a member of SAIA Carleton
joined two Carleton professors on TalkOttawa to discuss the poster banning
and its ramifications on academic freedom.
We recorded the session=2C and it can be seen here:
