First Nation Issues and Exploration: Two sides of the coin

Date: February 7th, 2009
Time: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Venue: Willet Green Miller Centre, Laurentian University, Sudbury

The purpose of this workshop is to inform geology and earth science
undergraduate and graduate students on perspectives related to conducting
exploration on First Nation traditional land use areas, and to learn about
the main concerns of First Nation peoples in regard to exploration and
mining. The workshop will be presented by experts from First Nation
communities in Northern Ontario, from the mining industry, and from
government. This workshop is an opportunity for all to share their views and
experiences in a non-confrontational environment. Ample time will be
allotted for discussion and questions.

Registration for the workshop is free for all students. Registration costs
for non-student participants from industry, government and academia is $200.
Please make checks payable to MERC, Laurentian University. Funds from the
workshop will be used to support and advertise the Co-Op option in Mineral
Exploration offered by Laurentian University. For further information, or to
