I would like to publish a clarification:

Any opinions concerning Mr. Annett were my own, and do not reflect the position of IPSMO. Although I identify as an IPSMO supporter, I didn't intend to convey the impression that "Mr. Annett may be a controversial figure with [IPSMO]". IPSMO political positions and decisions are made through consensus agreement, and, to my knowledge, there has been no IPSMO consensus concerning Kevin Annett or any matter relating to his work and visit. 

My apologies for any misunderstanding.

I wrote to you earlier today regarding Kevin Annett, and my desire to have
him speak here in Ottawa.  It has been brought to my attention by Eric
Smith, who I believe is one of your members, that Mr. Annett may be a
controversial figure with your organization.  I have no intention whatsoever
in offending anyone, and only seek to raise awareness of something which
should be more of an issue with average Canadians, who have chosen to wash
their hands of it after Steven Harper's apology in Parliament.
 
If there is a reason why I should cease my efforts to bring Kevin Annett to
Ottawa, please let me know.  If I can relate to the nature of the
controversy, I will immediately abandon my efforts.  Again, I would like to
stress that my intention is strictly positive and sincere, and I have no
desire whatsoever to cause anyone undue grief.  I remain open to your
correspondence and insight.
