Search for Maisy Odjick and Shannon Alexander

Maisy Odjick, a young Native woman who went missing with her friend, Shannon
Alexander, on September 6, 2008.  Neither has been seen since that date.  On
Saturday May 2, a group of volunteers will travel to Kitigan Zibi, an
Algonquin Reserve in Quebec (Maniwaki) to participate in a professionally
organized search.  This search is being organized and conducted by Search
<http://www.sarglobal1.ca/>  & Rescue Global 1 (http://www.sarglobal1.ca/),
working under the authority of the Kitigan Zibi Police.  They recommend that
you wear appropriate clothing for the search (bring a hat, jacket and hiking
boots or rubber boots.  Please avoid wearing jeans or cotton), please see
the attached Briefing Sheet for details.  Please note every volunteer must
provide photo ID on the day of the search.

 

Bus leaving from Amnesty International Canada office (312 Laurier Ave East,
Ottawa) at 7 AM.

Please be at the Amnesty office parking lot 15 minutes prior to departure.

Bus will leave Kitigan Zibi at 3:30 PM (arrival in Ottawa around 6 PM)

 

To reserve a seat on the bus, please contact Sylvia Smith at
trublwithnormal at gmail.com.  There are only about forty (40) spaces, so
please RSVP as soon as possible with your name and contact phone numbers
(home and cell phone numbers).  If you already e-mailed me regarding your
interest in participating in the search, please contact Sylvia again with
your coordinates.  If the bus fills up, people can car-pool and follow the
bus.

 

Please bring your own lunch, water and snacks.  The community hall in
Kitigan Zibi will be used as the staging area and as base.
