[Indigsol] Working Group Update September 2009

Hey Folks
Please read below for some updates! And send in the IPSMO wg form at your
earliest convenience.

Info Fair
The Info Fair is generally a time when OPIRG and the working groups &
projects affiliated with OPIRG host displays in the Atrium. In Previous
years these took place where the Starbucks is now located. Last winter we
were informed that the space was Admin space bookable through facilities and
that the CUSA space was actually the space between Roosters and the first
wall in the Atrium. This September it has been a challenge to book space
through CUSA and Facilities. CUSA is open and willing to accommodate us
provided that we can give them notice far in advance. Because the info fair
requires booking 12 or so tables at a time it is not clear that this will be
able to happen for at least first semester.

Given this the current plan is to try to have at least 1-2 tables in the
atrium in the near future. The dates originally chosen were the 24th and
25th of September from about 11am-3:00pm.  If we are successful in booking a
couple of tables I will let you know and we can try to have a bit of info
about each working group and project in additional to info about OPIRG.
Additionally if your working group is also a club your could try to book a
table for  your own group.

Wednesday Weekly Announcements
Please let me know of events and meetings to post on the website and  in
Wednesday Weekly.

Also each wg has a write up below. Please check it out and see if this write
up and email contact work for your group. If not send me an update asap. I
will use what I have in the meantime unless I hear from your group not to.

Film Nights
If you have a film you would like to screen and a time or rough idea of a
time you'd like to screen it let me know and I will try and get a room
booked asap! Ideally we will post on the films to be screened for fall so
that folks can have a  schedule

Updates from You
Please keep me posted as to meeting times, how things are going and general
updates so I can put volunteers in touch with you and share the info with
folks coming into the office.

Info Events/ So You Want to Get Involved
I am thinking of organizing some sessions for interested volunteers to
attend and get more info about where they can invest their time. Let me know
if this is of interest to you or ideas you may have.  I may be asking
working groups to attend at best and provide information at a minimum to
ensure these sessions work.

Working Group Training
The plan is generally to have a two day long training for working groups and
volunteers on consensus, anti-oppression, strategic planning, general how to
organize on campus as a wg info and what ever else folks want/need.   These
trainings may be broken up into individual sessions. Please let me know if
you have ideas for trainings or a preference for what dates/times they are
held. Also whether you prefer a two day training or individual sessions.
