Background Info
Walk4Justice is a group of brave women and men that left Vancouver, BC on
June 21, 2008 and is marching to Ottawa to demand an effective action from
Parliament Hill to address systemic violence against Indigenous women.
The Walk4Justice group is expected to arrive in Ottawa on September 12,
2008.
On Monday, September 15, 2008, the Walk4Justice Finale will be held on
Parliament Hill from 10 am to 4 pm with a march from Minwaashin Lodge
starting at 9 am. For detailed program on September 15, please click

In the last decade, over 3,000 women have gone missing, 80% of whom are
Aboriginal. The niece of Gladys Radek (one of the Walk4Justice organizers),
Tamara Chipman, is one of the women who went missing on BC's Highway of
Tears, the Yellowhead Highway.
It is Amnesty Internationals view that the role of discrimination in
fuelling this violence, in denying Indigenous women the protection they
deserve or in allowing the perpetrators to escape justice is a critical part
of the threat faced by Indigenous women.

The Indigenous Peoples Solidarity Movement Ottawa is a local community group
that supports Indigenous peoples' struggles for justice. We do this by
supporting Indigenous groups directly and by working within non Aboriginal
communities to foster accurate knowledge of Indigenous groups.
