 Walk4Justice is a group of brave women and men that left Vancouver, BC on June 21, 2008 and is marching to Ottawa for September 15, 2008, to demand a response from Parliament Hill on the violence against Indigenous women.
 
Walk4Justic group is expected to arrive in Ottawa on September 12, 2008. For more info, please contact Gladys Radek, the Organizer, at 778-839-0072 or Beverly Jacobs, President of the Native Women's Association of Canada, at 613-878-6922.
 
In the last decade over 3,000 women have gone missing, 80% of whom are aboriginal. Gladys Radek’s niece, Tamara Chipman, is one of the women who went missing on BC's Highway of Tears. 
The Indigenous Peoples Solidarity Movement Ottawa (IPSMO) is a local community group that supports indigenous peoples' struggles for justice. We do this by supporting Indigenous groups directly and by working within (settler) communities to foster accurate knowledge of Indigenous groups.                                        
                                                   
We are concerned about the Police not doing their job to the finish line and the Government standing by and watching.  Yes, looks lke you can get away with murder!

Note: starting next week, Jack Purcell is a lot more booked as their fall programs are starting. I will attempt to find out from them all the open spaces they do have, so that we can go about choosing when we will have future meetings (if we want to keep having them at JP)

Updates:

The movie screening is a go ahead, booked Wed Sept 10 from 7-9pm at Jack Purcell

The musical fundraiser evening is Fri Sept 12 from 8pm on, at Umi Cafe, and the walkers will be in attendance and telling some of their personal stories as part of the evening

Promotional posters will hopefully also be available for tomorrow night, and an email callout for the events should be on its way soon - courtesy of the promotions working group.

The events are also included in this monthly printed event listing, online at http://linchpin.ca/files/sept2008events.pdf (copies will be available tomorrow night)
