[Indigsol] Important: Committees and Volunteers

The Indigenous Peoples’ Solidarity Movement of Ottawa currently meets
weekly on Tuesday and Wednesday nights.  Our next meeting is on Tuesday,
Oct. 28th at 6pm at Exile Infoshop (256 Bank St.).  However, for people
who can’t make it to those meetings, we also have committees that you can
contact by e-mail.  You can find out about work that needs to be done from
them, as well as the different days that the Committees meet to organize.

As well as committees, we also have work for volunteers to do.  You can
volunteer to do a number of different things.  We need people to put up
posters, send out e-mail announcements, flyer, make photocopies, and much
more.

Volunteer Co-ordination:

Fundraising/Education Committee:

This committee focuses on the important work of raising money and
awareness.  The funds raised either go directly to Indigenous nations and
organizations, or to the Indigenous Peoples’ Solidarity Movement –Ottawa
for the support work it does.

Green door event committee:

This is a temporary committee that has been formed to organize our
December 1st fundraising night at the Green Door restaurant:

Tyendinaga Committee:

The Tyendinaga committee is planning for out participation in the Oct.
31st national day of action in support of the Tyendinaga Mohawks.  It is
also the committee that will be most involved in planning our
participation in the campaign to force CN rail to drop its lawsuit against
Shawn Brant, Jason Maracle, Tara Green, John Doe, Jane Doe, persons
unknown and the Band Council of the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte and in
support of the Tyendinaga Mohawks.

Workshop Committee:

This committee is developing an Indigenous Solidarity workshop for the
Organizing for Justice Conference that will be happening from Nov. 20-22.
