dear friends,
In 1991 Algonquins of Barrier Lake negotiated a groundbreaking Trilateral
Agreement with Canada and Quebec giving their joint managment of their
traditional territory. Both governments refuse to honor the agreement.

The community has maintained their traditional form of governance. In march,
the federal government recognized a minority faction who does not prioritize
the Trilateral.

Last week the community peacefully blockaded highway 117, three hours north
of Ottawa. Their demands: that Canada and Quebec honour signed agreements
and respect their traditional government.
