Book release tour and discussion w/ members of the CASA collective
TEACHING REBELLION!
Thursday Nov. 27th
@Exile Infoshop (256 Bank, Second floor)
7pm
The Colectivos de Apoyo, Solidaridad y Accion (CASA) have just
edited/released a new book called Teaching Rebellion (PM Press). The event
will include a discussion and photo exhibition hosted by CASA member
Gustavo Vilchis. The book and Gustavo's art document the experiences of
those caught up in the mass uprising and subsequent military suppression
in Oaxaca in 2006-07.
The tour intends to foster dialogue between U.S., Canada, and Oaxacan
activists around organizing strategies and movement building. Oaxacan
organizers brought together many diverse organizations —indigenous,
labour, women's, youth, neighbourhood— to form a mass movement for
democracy and accountability.
CASA hosts and educates activists about social justice issues in Oaxaca
and Chiapas.
This event is brought to you by the Indigenous Peoples' Solidarity
Movement - Ottawa. For more info about the event, please contact IPSMO:
