This coming Thursday November 13th from 8-11pm the Amnesty
International - University of Ottawa Chapter will be hosting a
fundraiser and promotional event to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and to champion the Lubicon Cree of
Northern Alberta.
The Lubicon are a first nations group in Northern Alberta that continue
to be marginalized and ignored by both large oil companies and the
Canadian government by allowing the continued destruction of their
territorial and ancestral land through various pipeline and extraction
projects, all without fair consultation processes for the Lubicon.

Please come out and support our ALL AGES event at
1848 student bar (UCU rm 216) from 8-10:30 PM. Tickets can be purchased
for $3 in advance at OPIRG GRIPO (3rd floor, 631 King Edward), through
the club's email address amnesty.uo at gmail.com or at the doors for $5 the night of. Please don't forget that the event is all ages, so everyone is welcome!

Over the course of the evening we will be having various
presentations, speakers and finally an amazing local musician
performing. Also we will be having petitions and information concerning
the club and what we do as a group and what Amnesty as a national and
international organization do. Over the course of the evening we will
be lucky enough to have Ed Bianchi from Kairos Canada come and speak
and Ottawa local Jill Zmud will be performing: please check out her
myspace at www.myspace.com/jillzmud to get a feeling for what sort of amazing music is in store for the evening.

Come learn, socialize, listen to great music, eat (food will be provided), and win prizes!

Hope to see you there and please feel free to send any questions to amnesty.uo at gmail.com

In solidarity,
Cam Gray - Amnesty International-University of Ottawa Chapter
