The Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Carleton University
invites you to a public lecture by Bob Watts, Interim Executive
Director of the upcoming Truth and Reconciliation Commission to
investigate abuses in Indian Residential Schools in Canada.

In November 2005, representatives of the Government of Canada, the
Assembly of First Nations, and the United, Anglican, Roman Catholic and
Presbyterian churches signed an historic Indian Residential Schools
Settlement Agreement to address the painful legacy of Indian
Residential Schools in Canada. The agreement, implemented in September
2007, contained a provision for Canada's first major Truth and
Reconciliation Commission to investigate abuses committed in these
schools. As Interim Executive Director of the Truth and Reconciliation
Commission, Bob Watts will talk about the goals, structure and timing
of the upcoming commission. There will also be time for questions from
the audience.

The presentation will begin with a short film: Where are the Children?
Healing the Legacy of the Residential Schools. This will be followed by
Mr. Watts' talk.

April 3, 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.
Tory Building room 340 at Carleton University.

Seating is limited.
