Chuck Strahl has towed his party line and voted against the Private Members Bill calling for the current federal Government of Canada to endorse the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.
The bill passed and now must be carried out by Stephen Harper and his minority regime. The Opposition Members of Parliament must demand that Indian Affairs Minister Chuck Strahl resign immediately as he is in a breach of his mandate to the First Nations, Metis, Inuit of this land. Canada has always taken the position that the Federal Minister of Indian Affairs has a fiduciary responsibility to the First Nations of this land and by voting against this motion has seriously breached his fiduciary responsibility to the First Nations.
His failure to act in the best interest of the very people he alleges to act on behalf of is a clear testament of the unwillingness of the Stephen Harper administration to work with the First Nations of this land.
His resignation must be demanded and that it be effective immediately.
