hey everyone,
i think the idea was to show it in a satirical light, in terms of showing how indigenous people are often (mis)represented in popular film, art etc, and it does a pretty good job of that. that said, it doesnt play that much into exposing current ish that indigenous folks in canada are dealing with, and it might well be taken the wrong way. it would be pertinent to discuss this, i was half asleep for most of the meeting but yeah, i think the only way it c ould be shown is with an eye to discussing representations of indigenous people in film, art etc and how time and tiem again that has been misconstrued into this mononarrative that speaks nothing as to who different indigenous groups actually are. is talking bout that in the context of solidarity work a good idea? i think so, but the question is open as to whether showing and discussing this film woudl do anthing towards that end.
solidarity,
matt
