Hey ya'll,
Below is an update from the uranium mine blockade in Ardoch, Ontario.
I know folks are busy with jail solidarity and other post-Montebello shiz,
but I think it would be fucking awesome to show solidarity and support for
the folks doing the uranium mine blockade in Ardoch, especially as this week
they are expecting to be served an injunction. if anyone wants to help
coordinate supplies or rides down, please contact me.i'm definitely going
down next monday and quite possibly this thursday, although i do not have a
ride organized yet.
love and rage,
Matt k.

IN THIS ISSUE:
1) SITE UPDATE
2) REQUESTS FOR VISITORS TO THE SITE
3) QUICK ACTION PHONE LIST
4) FOOD AND SUPPLY REQUESTS
SITE UPDATE:
The Ardoch Algonquin First Nations and Shabot Obaadjiwan First Nations
remain on
the protest site on Hwy #509.
According to the Court, the First Nations lawyers, the First Nations people
and
Frontenac Ventures, the First Nations were served an injunction that
technically
took effect on Thursday August 16th. With this court order, the First
Nations
were required to leave the protest site by Friday August 17th. Frontenac
Ventures has recognized that the First Nations have not left the property
and
have asked for an emergency meeting with Justice Gordon Thomson as early as
Monday.
The OPP have stated that they have never seen the injunction and therefore
have
not served the First Nations the court order. It appears that the injunction
was
served electronically, which has confused the First Nations and their
supporters, as they had been expecting to be served in person, right at the
site.
When Frontenac Ventures asked the OPP to place a lock on the gate of the
protest
site, the police declined. Until they have received the injunction, they are
continuing to simply keep the peace, as they have been doing since the
occupation began.
REQUESTS FOR MORE PEOPLE TO VISIT:
The Algonquin people have asked that more non-natives visit the site over
the
next week as they may be told to leave at any moment. If you can come to the
site anytime this week, for any length of time, it would be greatly
appreciated.
Your show of support makes a big difference. Come out and spend a few hours
during the day or after work and bring a picnic meal to have in the
visitors
tent. Quite often the Elder Harold Perry will come out and sit with the
visitors, filling them in on what is happening. You can bring your craft
projects. We have an avid knitter who regularly visits. She works for a few
hours on her projects while chatting to those who drop by.
QUICK ACTION PHONE LIST:
For those on the QAPL you can expect to be called at anytime this week.
We would like to thank everyone who has come out in the past. We realize
that it
can be frustrating to come out, thinking that the injunction would come at
any
moment and then be told it wasnt happening that day. The process of this
injunction has been very confusing, so you can imagine what the First
Nations
have been going through. We appreciate your patience. Please know that your
time
at the site is not wasted as it boosts the morale of the First Nations to
see
people out at the gate.
If you have placed yourself on the QAPL, please understand that you might be
called very late at night or early in the morning. If you do not want to be
called at these times, let me know and I will make a note beside your name.
FOOD AND SUPPLY REQUESTS:
Food needed for the site:
-50lb bags of Flour, Sugar, and Potatoes (any bulk staples)
-Corn meal
-Shortening
-Eggs
-Bacon
-Hot cereal
-Milk and Half/Half every second day
Supplies needed:
Gas and propane is always needed and welcomed.
There has been a request for a satellite dish to be installed for Internet
as
cell phone reception is poor and there is a possibility that the sites
phone
line could be disconnected in the event of a further injunction.
