Hiya Freeskool Fans!

Just a quick update - be sure to give thought to Freeskool while you're
planning your week! THIS WEEK, our new class on The History of
Revolution<http://hamiltonfreeskool.org/art-art-revolution/>gets
rolling (today!!), as well as the new schedule of screenings for TED:
The Class, <http://hamiltonfreeskool.org/current-classes/ted/> and our
unfolding Art! <http://hamiltonfreeskool.org/current-classes/art/> class.
Meanwhile, Spanish
Freeskool<http://hamiltonfreeskool.org/current-classes/free-spanish-school/>,
the magical Sew
Cool<http://hamiltonfreeskool.org/current-classes/freeskools-sew-cool/>,
Qi Gong <http://hamiltonfreeskool.org/current-classes/qigong-for-healing/>healing
and the excitingly popular French
Conversation Class<http://hamiltonfreeskool.org/current-classes/french-conversation-circle/>are
awaiting the missing spice of YOU! Other classes and short-term
workshops and skillshares are posting their information on a constant basis
so check our website frequently. And of course, it's free free free
free........ wild and beautiful and free.

And just to add some rumble to the jungle, *have you heard* about the *Hamilton
Freeskool's Learning With Our Elders* series?
Have you anything to learn from the true history of the Internet? The
lessons of becoming a parent? The story of Hamilton? The world a highschool
student graduates into? Lost arts of sustainability? The life of a lifelong
activist? A giant LEGO party?!
Whether or not you have, just follow us this far: *we are, each of us, only
one age at a time.* That is, without some mindful effort to the contrary, a
woefully myopic perspective for individuals to have in life, no?
Especially when we consider that there are so many many valuable
perspectives all around us. We have so much to learn from one another. It's
a tragic loss for us to fail to appreciate what we can all learn not only
from our elders, but as elders: no age group can be marginalised as being no
longer relevant, as being too ignorant, as being too idealistic, as being
too emotional, as being too settled. One of Freeskool's most important
tenets is that of Radical
Inclusivity<http://hamiltonfreeskool.org/manifesto/values/anti-oppression-and-radical-inclusivity/>.
In order for us to be as brave with learning and as genuine in educating as
we can be, there can be no barriers of the kind that delude us into
believing there are entire age groups we cannot learn from. This Spring,
look for the Learning With Our Elders series presented diversely across the
city to stimulate discourse, sharing of knowledge and synthesis of
understanding.
We are at this time composing our workshop/speaker schedule. If you are
(you are!) or know a person whose perspective you'd like to see lent to a
presentation, interview, workshop, video or some other product of your
imagination, or if a topic strikes you as important to this project, *please
e-mail us* with Learning With Our Elders in your subject. It is our
community that is birthing this exciting series. Collaborate!

We look forward to seeing you out at classes. Meanwhile our website offers
delicious appeals for your contributions and comments, and our inbox is
always open. Do participate.

Hope you're enjoying your February so far!

Be brave,

Yay!

"If modern industrial education—and more broadly industrial
civilization—requires "the subsumption of the individual," that is, the
conversion of vibrant human beings into "automata," i.e., into a pliant
workforce, then the most revolutionary thing we can do is follow our hearts,
to manifest who we really are."
