Hey FreeSkoolers,

feat. AngelHeartRiverWalker, Lee Reed, Kahsenniyo, and Testament

On Saturday, April 23rd at the Skydragon, Mayday Magazine, Hamilton
FreeSkool's Practical Solidarity, & the Peace Cafe are hosting a party to
launch the special issue of the Dominion about climate change. For those of
you who don't know, The Dominion Media Co-op is one of the best news sources
in the country today, and once a year they release a special issue
going ...further
in depth on an issue. This year, that issue is Climate Justice, which is a
big, complicated scary issue, and so we figured, what better way to
introduce it to you all than to throw a big giant party with lots of radical
hip hop and spoken word?

For those of you who don't know them yet, The AngelHeartRiverwalker Project
is rooted in Afro-Nativism from the North & South. This Duo is best known
for their lyrical and musical contributions to the popular Red Slam
Collective. The AngelHeart Riverwalker Project represents the best of
Mahlikah Awe:ri's poetic-rapology mixed with indigenous drum talk. They
offer great grooves, insightful lyrics, and they haven't been in town for a
while, so don't miss this chance to catch them live!

Kahsenniyo is a spoken-word artist who will be weaving her thoughtful and
elegant poetry through the themes of the evening, and Lee Reed will also be
joining us on the stage, and he needs no introduction in this city.

Testament, of the hip-hop duo Test Their Logik, is a new addition to the
bill. Check his work out here: http://www.myspace.com/testtheirlogik

Doors @ 8. $10/pwyc. No one turned away. Free Issue with admission.

See you there!!

"If modern industrial education—and more broadly industrial
civilization—requires "the subsumption of the individual," that is, the
conversion of vibrant human beings into "automata," i.e., into a pliant
workforce, then the most revolutionary thing we can do is follow our hearts,
to manifest who we really are."
