Hello Everyone
Last week a fantastic class started up (Poi Skillshare). This is a brief
description:
Have you ever wanted to improve your coordination, balance, and
over-all physical ability?
Poi is a form of dance and a performance art, where weights on the
ends of tethers are swung through rhythmical patterns. It is rooted in
the culture of the Maori people of Aotearoa (aka New Zealand), who
dance with poi in traditional ceremonies. Poi was popularized
throughout the world largely by fire spinning, spawned when
traditional poi met modern day dance parties. In time, poi enthusiasts
turned to flag poi, LED poi, and other tools that express the beauty
of poi without the health and environmental risks of fire.
So whether you have never picked up a pair of poi and would like to
learn the basics, or are looking to spend time practicing and sharing
skills in a warm open space with other poi enthusiasts, come out to the
Jamesville Community Center (Room 9) every Monday night from 7:30 - 9 pm!
BYOP (Bring your own Poi - If you don't have any, Sock poi are really easy
make
using instructions from Google and materials from the dollar store)
Contact Allison at papersnake at gmail.com for more information.
It happens every Monday night at the Jamesville Community Centre from
7:30-9, however will not be happening this week, Feb. 15th due to family day
being a statutory holiday.
It will resume Feb. 22nd!
Hope you all spend some amazing time with your families,
Aerin, for freeskool!

"If modern industrial education—and more broadly industrial
civilization—requires "the subsumption of the individual," that is, the
conversion of vibrant human beings into "automata," i.e., into a pliant
workforce, then the most revolutionary thing we can do is follow our hearts,
to manifest who we really are."
