[GSA Council] [IMPORTANT] Amendments to the Meeting Announcement

Hello everyone, this is important:


I’d like just to say that the announcement about the upcoming meeting is
inaccurate. We need the following corrections in order for it to be a
legitimate meeting:

1. the title should just be "Council Meeting" instead of "Special Council
Meeting";

2. the time should be "6:00pm - 9:30pm" instead of "6:00pm - 7:00pm"; and

3. all meeting agendas always have "Other Business" even if there is none.
This is a democratic gesture.


Please recall that:

1. it was determined in email correspondence that the GSA Bylaws don't
account for special meetings, in which case Robert’s Rules state that they
are not permitted (See emails sent by Meeting Facilitator and by Yasser
Jaber);

2. it is also determined that this meeting would still be permitted under
the rules as a regular meeting, given the GSA Bylaws imposing no limit on
the number of meetings and that the Council has chosen not to set a fixed
meeting schedule (See emails sent by Yasser Jaber, Federico Bettini, Xun
He);

3. therefore, this is a regular meeting and can take place only if
directors who did not receive 7-days notice agree to waive their rights to
be notified, and only if all members are notified about the (regular)
meetings (See emails sent by Meeting Facilitator); and

4. the duration of meetings, historically, has never ever (ever) been
announced as under 3 hours. Currently, members may conceive that it will be
a quick special meeting, which our Bylaws forbid.


*Response requested:*

*May whoever is in charge of sending meeting announcements please re-send
an amended announcement with the title “Council Meeting”, with the time
stated as “6:00pm – 9:30pm”, and with “Other Business” included on the
agenda.*

*In addition, may the meeting facilitator confirm that he has received
consents from whoever was absent at the end of last week’s council meeting.*
