[GSA Council] Invitation to Graduate Orientation Panel (Event: August 26, please respond by 30 Jul)

Dear Council Members,

The GSA has been invited to be a part of the Graduate Orientation Panel (on
Monday, August 26, 2019). The  Manager in the Services for New Students
unit has apprised us of this event today, requesting GSA to send a
representative to the panel discussion. I request anyone who is interested
to represent GSA in the panel discussion to please express interest here by
30 July, 3:00 pm as we need to respond to the Manager in the Services for
New Students by 31 July. Below, you can find an overview of what would be
involved as a panelist:

*Graduate Connection Panel*

*Date: Monday, August 26, 2019Time*: 10:45am – 11:30 pm (roughly) *Note: we
ask that panelists arrive early at H-110 by *10:25am *at the latest
*Location*: H-110, Hall Building, SGW campus
*Invited Panelists*:
•         Cynthia Raso, Manager, Graduate Awards and Postdoctoral Studies
•         Kristy Clarke, Program Administrator, GradProSkills
•         TBD, Reference & Subject Librarian
•         Jeremy Tessier, TRAC Representative
•         TBD, Graduate Students’ Association
•         TBD, Welcome Crew Mentor and Graduate Student

*Details*: Each panelist would provide a brief overview of their services
and/or tips for new students (3-4 minutes each), then the floor would open
for questions from the students attending the event.  Please find attached
the presentation that was displayed as each panelist was speaking during
the past winter orientation for your reference. This presentation could be
modified basis the content provided by the speaker.


*BASIC GRADUATE ORIENTATION SCHEDULE*
10:00 am to 11:30am: Main Welcome Session (including Graduate Connection
Panel)
11:30am to 3:00pm: Information Fair (EV Building)
12:45pm: Crash Course 1 (selection of break-out sessions offered by
Learning Specialists or Welcome Crew Mentors on study tips or student life
tips)
1:30pm: Crash Course 2 (selection of break-out sessions offered by Learning
Specialists or Welcome Crew Mentors on study tips or student life tips)
2:15pm: Crash Course 3 (selection of break-out sessions offered by Learning
Specialists or Welcome Crew Mentors on study tips or student life tips)
1:00pm – 4:00pm Optional Campus Tours
