[GSA Council] Important: Upcoming General Assembly

Hi Everyone,

Thanks Deepak for sharing this information. I will quickly clarify a few
things
 in response to your reply,
and in doing so, will address Angela's final query regarding my
participation.

*Firstly, the NOTICE OF GA was sent at 12:34am on the 14th of
March. *This
is both 'technically' and in actuality the 14th of March, which is
not
the minimum 
10 days prior as per your bylaws. If Council believes this to be
"acceptable" since it is "almost equal to 10 days prior notice" then this
is your decision as a group. I am merely doing my duty of alerting you to
these bylaws.

*Secondly, regarding the AGENDA. *Following the bylaws that are outlined
to ensure oversight and governance,
I do not believe that 
stating that a previously drafted agenda which didn't change much is
insufficient and opens the GSA to further controversy and unnecessary
complications
. I think it's unfortunate that 
"

GA committee members were unresponsive to the mails after two attempts",
however, the GSA is
holding elections in this general assembly which is not in the agenda, and
has an entire protocol according to your bylaws (please see Article XIV –
Elections
). 
I will not restate these as it is a waste of time
, but I will draw your attention to the fact that there is a minimum
notice for such elections in order to ensure interested individuals to have
sufficient time to fulfill requirements for candidacy. This has not been
met, since the email was sent on the 14th of March.

*Ultimately, the decision regarding holding the GA lies with Council,
and not me. However, after reviewing the situation, and the lack of
compliance with the Bylaws (as there are still items left unaddressed by
Deepak), I personally do not feel comfortable to be the Chair for this
meeting. I withdraw myself as Chair for the General Assembly.*

The agenda of the GA didnt change much (except for the by-elections) from
the previously drafted one.

And the agenda has already been shared to the council with the date and
time and was approved.

So  I as the chair of the GA committee after discussing with the executives
didn't think the need of discussing the same agenda again. (as GA committee
members were unresponsive to the mails after two attempts)

Website is taken care by President or Vice president external currently

GA was not published on newspaper even previously and we are following the
same
