Hello Angelica,
Thank you very much for going through the document and your encouraging
feedback.
I do hope that everyone on the council finds the changes positive.
I don't think think there is any accessible entrance to the GSA house
(correct me if I am wrong). I'm sure there has been some complaints and
some efforts done regarding that - but I don't know the specific details.
I have raised that question in the university advisory committee on
sustainablity. In fact, the annex buildings are very problematic in terms
of their accessibility.
There is an accessibility problem that remains unsolved for schools and
facilities in the annex buildings (such as school of public affairs and
liberal arts college for example) - which effects graduate students on the
day to day and/or might result in certain graduates not choosing Concordia
for their studies.
I think the GSA approach, or future approach to the topic, should be more
comprehensive. We should look beyond just the GSA house and try to maybe
provide options and solutions (By finding funding, donations, donations of
equipment or for Bono designs from firms) that could solve the issue in the
whole group of problematic buildings on Mackay - including GSA building.
Of course having an accessible GSA house is useful and positive, yet I see
that a graduate student who can't access their own classes might have
different priorities.
Let me know if I answered your question and if you find my perspective any
useful.

Hey guys,
Fantastic work, especially in the Internal commitments section. I don’t
really have any comments, but just one question. Are there any other
entrances to the GSA house that are more accessible (considering that the
main entrance isn’t wheelchair friendly)? I am simply asking this out of
curiosity (one of your points on accessibility reminded me of this). If
not, do you know if there have there been any complaints in the past? Has
this issue even been brought up? It’s totally fine if none of you have
answers to these questions. I can look them up on my own.
Again, amazing work guys.
Kindly,
Angelica Restrepo
