[GSA Council] Notes from Today's Council Meeting

Hi everyone,


I just wanted to thank you again for attending today's Council meeting. I
am sorry I had to rush off to another meeting, but I appreciate all the
feedback I received. As some people left before the ending of the meeting,
it was requested by a few of you that I follow up with some comments I made
before we adjourned that I think will help us have even more productive and
efficient meetings!

1) If you come for the meeting, it's important to not only come on time,
but to stay for the entire meeting. It can be distracting to have people
coming and going. I understand there are extenuating circumstances, but
these meetings are only once a month, and they're the Council's only
opportunity to gather as a whole and discuss the important business of
representing the graduate students at Concordia!

2) Please be sure to read the agenda carefully before the meeting, so that
we can make any amendments at the beginning of the meeting. This helps to
avoid confusion and facilitate clarity, and minute taking.

3) If you are making a presentation at a meeting, when you email the
meeting facilitator to ask them to add your item to the agenda, it's
helpful to include whether there is an action item attached to the
presentation (if we need to vote on something, etc.) and provide a rough
estimate of how long you anticipate your presentation taking. If we do
this, we can more accurately schedule our meetings and make sure we don't
have to table agenda items.


I truly appreciate the opportunity to work with you all, and I look forward
to more great meetings in the year to come. I also encourage you to reach
out to me individually if you have any accessibility or any other concerns
(for instance if you need things said louder/slower/repeated, etc.) and I
will do my best to ensure we find a way to facilitate them.
