[GSA Council] ADD COMMENTS TO THE DRAFT MOU AIESEC-GSA

Dear Rafi,

Picking on Bhavreet's point at which they are a part of CSU; I would mention that AIESEC will be having their events regardless of the fact that if the GSA commits to anything or not; and they have always targeted both the graduates and undergraduates with their events. So they will not be organizing anything new and exclusive to graduates if we enter into the agreement with them, so my question is: why should we make any payments towards venue booking in that case. If they want to make up for their failure on targeting the graduates with the help of GSA then they should not be looking for any monetary commitment from GSA within this collaboration.
Secondly there will be one leadership workshop and one information session as per my understanding per quarter; and looking at what we already offer within our current workshop series and collaboration with gradpro skills I do not see much value added if we go with AIESEC. They will still be asking for the internship fees, and they will not be able to apply to those internships unless they pay an upfront fee in the beginning of the semester.

Overall I would still back my point at the council meeting that if we decide to enter into any agreement with AIESEC it should be wholly without any financial commitment from GSA towards AIESEC.

Kind regards,
Shaheer Ali

Hello Bhavreet

Thanks a lot for your input.

First of all we prefer sharing co-organized events because both GSA and AIESEC will be having lots of different types of events all through the term so it will be hard to keep track and always professionally share each others event in their respective platforms. If we generalize it and any of the two association miss out on sharing any particular event by the other association then that will be a breach of the contract. It seems to me not that necessary for GSA to showcase their events in AIESEC's platform since we have a better reach then them.

What I feel is GSA will be more beneficial then AIESEC for the following key reasons :

1.For this collaboration we get to organize workshops almost for free. if we provide them just the venue within the campus then that will be the only cost for us where as AIESEC will be in charge of everything for the workshops and information sessions which will be solely dedicated towards Graduate students only (this will be added in the MOU).

2. These will be free workshops for graduate students (as discussed with AIESEC previously and will be mentioned in the final version of the MOU)

3. Our Graduate students will now get to know about the internship opportunities on a regular basis which previously they rarely used to know about.

4. AIESEC being under CSU is not actually concerning us, because of that actually very less amount of Graduate students knew about it and could not participate in their events, which are necessary for the Graduates too, so this collaboration will remove that barrier and will open up opportunity for more activities for our Graduate students within the campus.

So all in all I see that GSA is getting most of it from this collaboration, with rarely any expenses being incurred by us.

If you have any more ideas or point which we can add feel free to add them. I will really appreciate that. Cheers

Hello Rafi,

I have a few doubts with this collaboration
1. Why only the "co-organised" events will be shared by AISEC and GSA? As it is mentioned in the MoU
2. I feel AISEC is more at benefit than GSA with this MoU as i donot see any platform for GSA to reachout to students or any other thing of that sort.
3. AISEC is a registered club under CSU, they are getting benefits from them as well

I think we should better work on the agreement again so as to bring GSA a benefit from this collaboration or MoU.

Hello All

Hope you all had a great weekend.

As almost all of you know about the MOU between AIESEC and GSA.

I would request you all to add your valuable ideas as comments to the previous draft version of the MOU by 24th September 2016. I won't be able to delay it any further since from all your input I will have to make the final draft version to be sent to AIESEC Concordia and also to be presented to the council in the next council meeting.

You can add your ideas as comments in this Dropbox file by the above mentioned date.

Here is the Link to MOU AIESEC-GSA .

Thanks in advance.
