Hello Jon,

Thank you for confirming what I overheard (I.e: that Liz wrote some checks for higher amounts). I think Houda talked to her about that and requested that she verified the checks that she wrote.

We are in the process of hiring a new finance manager. Hopefully, this person will start working by June.

Subject:[GSA Council] Carelessness with GSA funds

Dear GSA Councillors,

On May 4 (more than one month after the GSA election) I received notice that my paycheck for my work as CRO was finally ready, duly signed by 2 signing authorities. I promptly picked it up from the GSA office and deposited it into my bank account.

This check was to the amount of $2,746.29. However, I was only owed $2,296.29, as was clearly indicated in the Excel spreadsheet attached to my post-election report. This means that the GSA paid me an extra $450.

I have already notified the signing authorities of their error. But due to the seriousness of this error I feel I must also notify Council, who should be made aware how easy it is for student funds to go missing or end up in the wrong hands without the proper oversight.

Many at the GSA have become my friends and I have tried to maintain positive relationships with everyone over the past year, but I feel that this is just the latest in a long series of mistakes that says a lot about the state of our association this year.

Although I definitely feel that I worked hard enough as CRO to deserve a bonus, my conscience will not allow me to keep money that rightfully belongs to my student association, no matter how dysfunctional it may be. So I have written a check to the GSA for the amount of $450.

That's all I have to say. I wish you all the best in your future endeavors.

Jon

ps: For the benefit of the new Councillors, attached is the final report of the CRO.
