[GSA Council] RE-confirming urgent meeting 3pm Friday (*not* Tuesday)

Hello Councillors--

After much effort to re-book the urgent council meeting, including
collecting notices, we do not have quorum nor all the waivers required to
hold a meeting within the bylaws on Tuesday. The proposed meeting for
Tuesday (6pm) is cancelled.

*The meeting about the CFS case remains duly called for 3pm on Friday,
March 6**.*

I understand a quorum of 9 Councillors are confirmed to attend. For those
attending the A&S Congress or otherwise cannot make the meeting, you are
highly advised to speak with staff and the Executive before this urgent
council meeting to understand what is at stake for the GSA.

*Urgent meeting of GSA Council on Friday March 6 at 3pm*

*1. Call to Order*
*2. Update and discussion regarding Graduate Student Association of
Concordia University et al. vs. Canadian Federation of Students et
al. [Closed session]*
*3. Motion regarding CFS membership (see enclosed resolution)*
*4. Motion regarding potential settlement offer [Closed session]*
*5. Adjournment*

*The wording of the motion is as follows and may be distributed to Council
immediately.*

WHEREAS a referendum question on continued membership in the CFS was put to
the GSA members concurrently with the GSA 2010 Elections held from April 6th
to 8th, 2010;

WHEREAS the results of said referendum to the question: “Are you in favor
of continued membership in the Canadian Federation of Students?” were 148
for the Yes side and 456 for the No side;

WHEREAS the GSA has communicated to the CFS said results and its intention
to withdraw from the CFS on May 23rd, 2010;

WHEREAS the GSA Council has mandated legal counsel to institute legal
proceedings to seek, *inter alia*, a declaration from the Court that the
results of the referendum are valid and binding on the CFS and that the GSA
is no longer a member of the CFS as of May 23rd, 2010;

WHEREAS no councillor ever elected since 2010 has even put forward a motion
rescinding the decision of the GSA to withdraw from the CFS;

WHEREAS it is still the will of the actual Council to maintain the
termination of the GSA’s membership in the CFS that took place on May 23rd,
2010 and that is still in effect as of this date;

BIRT GSA reiterates and reconducts its decision to terminate its membership
to the CFS as of May 23rd, 2010;

BIFRT the Council, *de bene esse*, declares again, with the present motion,
that the GSA terminates its membership to the CFS as of this date;

BIFRT a copy of this resolution be sent to CFS and to all concerned parties.
