[GSA Council] IMPORTANT questions

HI Everyone,
Let's not fall prey to panic here. I totally agree that we should sit and
discuss about the GA.
Here's some answers/comments on Keroles questions:
2) Council can appoint Trevor as VP. But, keep in mind that it could be
perceived as the council trying to impose its candidates where the issue as
not been resolved here. In the long term it could play against the council
and event against Trevor. So if council really fell it is important to do
that take the time to prepare a full proof rational to defend it.
3) Clarification here: Election as in normal election are out of the GA,
by-election are not. The problem is that Election (outside of GA) cost
around 9000$ and span over a lengthier ammount of time so what would happen
before is you would have empty seats not filled because either it would
cost to much to have a full election for 1 or 2 seats and/or people would
deemed that there is not enough time before the next general election. IN
the meantime the job those seats could have done would be left out.
Possible solution: It has been said by others than me, but we could divide
our general election in two, one in the end of winter to elect half the
council seats and half the execs, and a second at the beggining of Fall
semester to elect the other half. Then between those two, if needed, we
could have by-election in GA, but it would dramatically reduce the number
of seats to be filled.
Just removing by-election would just bring back old problems and not
necessarily resolves all the other problems we have.
*By-laws/By-law committee*
I know this GA can be discouraging, it could have been better. Last year
by-election ga's were better than that. It is a work in progress and
believe me there are really really worst GA than that (which doesn't mean
we shouldn't try to make ours better, And I think we do)
Personally, I worked with different by-law committee in the last 2 years in
GSA and I feel that the main problem is even if everyone agrees that the
whole thing should be revised, everything people just want to work on
specific issues within the actual set of by-laws. So the whole revision
which would do more than just patch is always delayed and in the mean time
we keep the old patched by-laws.
