Ok, I see what you're saying, and have taken your comments into
consideration in formulating several possible solutions.
Again, we want a smaller number of councillors, we want to keep it
proportional, but we want to make sure smaller faculties have a voice.
With only a few hours until our meeting, here is the updated version of the
motion I sent to Gretchen for us to discuss. I hope you like this version
better.
1-500 students, 1 Director;
501-1200 students, 2 Directors;
1201-2100 students, 3 Directors;
2101-4200 students, 4 Directors;
and so on (increasing intervals of 500, 700, 900, 1100, etc.)
Using the numbers from the winter semester, this would give 4 ENCS; 3 A&S;
2 JMSB; 2 FA; and 1 indi (for a total of 12 Directors).
I think 12 is a great number. I agree that there should be less than 15 but
think we need at least twice as many Councillors as Executives. Also, with
less than 12, people will question our ability to represent our
constituents.
This is the very best system I can come up with, and will argue that we
vote in favor at today's meeting.
