1. Introduction à l’analyse du fonctionnement du corps à travers la technique Feldenkrais. Celle-ci permet au participant de comprendre en profondeur le fonctionnement de son corps à travers des exercices introspectifs (principalement en position allongée sur le sol) et explique comment minimiser l’énergie dépensée à travers l’économie de mouvements. 

2. Entraînement physique quotidien dans le style de Jacques Lecoq: exercices d’équilibre et d’élan physique, exercices sur la précision du langage corporel et les différentes dynamiques de scène, ainsi qu’une pratique de mime. 

3. Travail avec la méthode du masque neutre à partir d’éléments, de matières, de couleurs, de lumières et d’animaux. Afin de laisser le corps devenir un élément, une matière ou de se transformer en un animal. 

4. Travail quotidien des entrées en scène de clown dans le style de Philippe Gaulier. Les exercices porteront sur la présence et la psychologie du clown, la façon de penser, d’agir et de se comporter face à un public. Les participants sont invités à apporter des costumes et un nez rouge. 

Depuis trente ans, René Bazinet met ses talents au profit des plus grands théâtres d’ici et d’Europe. Il a joué sur les scènes du Wintergarten (Allemagne), au Teatro de la Fenice (Italie) et de l’Opéra de Paris (France), au Festival Juste pour Rire et au Cirque du Soleil. Il a aussi su utiliser ses talents de comédien, mime, clown et chanteur, dans des spectacles comme Lachen Machen, the King of Clowns, présenté en Allemagne et regroupant, selon la critique, les « cinq plus grands clowns au monde ». René Bazinet a aussi touché au 7e art : il a interprété des rôles dans plus d’une dizaine de films, en plus de réaliser des téléfilms. Enfin, il est aussi metteur en scène et concepteur de numéros clownesques.

The workshop will be focused on mime or neutral masque depending on the participants’ skills. 

1. Introduction to an in-depth analysis of the workings of the body through Feldenkrais Technique to gain deeper knowledge in how the body works. It also reveals a way of moving with minimal energy (economy of movement). 

2. Daily physical training in the style of Jacques Lecoq consisting of exercises for balance, forward momentum, precision in gestural language, different dynamics, also an elaboration on mime training. 

3. Work with the Neutral Masque method, starting with the elements and moving towards materials, colours, lights, and animals. The purpose is to let the body become an element, material or animal. 

4. Daily work on Clown Entrances in the style of Philippe Gaulier. This will be about stage presence and the psychology of the clown, the way he or she thinks, acts, behaves in front of an audience. I suggest students come with costumes pieces and a red nose. This approach was passed down to me from my Clown-master Philippe Gaulier...which basically means it’s going to be somewhat “personal” for each participant. 

Over the past thirty years, René Bazinet‘s talent has served the most famous North American and European theatres. He graced the stages of the Circus Roncalli and Germany’s Wintergarten, as well as those of the Teatro de la Fenice and the prestigious Opéra de Paris. He shined as the master of ceremonies in his numerous clown guises for Just for Laughs and Cirque du Soleil with which he traveled the world. Whether in Hamburg, Montpelier, Montréal or Munich, he is as much at ease as a director or as clown number creator, as he is on stage. The Théâtre du Nouveau Monde, Wintergarten, and Cirque du Soleil are but a few of the world-renowned theatre companies upon which he has left his mark. Of late, he directed the clowns called “the Movers” for the Cirque du Soleil production, Zarkana. While his two pieces, Baseball and Western, are still part of the production of Saltimbanco currently touring with Cirque du Soleil, René Bazinet is putting the finishing touches to his upcoming one-man show.
