[FreeGeek] Making washrooms accessible at the new space

Hi all,

One of our top priorities for the new space is 
making the washrooms accessible (they're up a few 
stairs on a platform at the moment). They're 
raised to be on par with the sewer line & can't be 
put any lower unfortunately.

It would be great to hear folks' ideas about 
informational resources and design.

We're also particularly interesting in hearing of 
funding/grant possibilities as well, as we want to 
do this right, and it could prove to be expensive.

A scissor-type lift has been suggested, due to the 
tight maneuvering space (it's at the end of a long 
hallway).

We also have the option of knocking down a small 
wall & building a long easy ramp. Measurements 
still will have to be taken to see if this is a 
viable option.

A Vancity community development grant has been 
suggested for pursuing funding. Other ideas?

essential to making Free Geek a radtastic place 
for everyone.
