Dear Owner or Manager,
This is an important message for anyone who sells, distributes, manufactures, or imports electronic products in or into British Columbia.
The Province of British Columbia will introduce a recycling program for electronic products in the coming months. As part of the new recycling regulation (Environmental Management Act, Recycling Regulation - B.C. Reg. 449/2004), anyone who sells, distributes, manufactures, or imports electronic products (herein called producers) in or into British Columbia must adopt and adhere to an Electronic Product Stewardship Plan. Products included in the Electronic Product Category of the Recycling Regulation are: desktop computers, servers, laptop (or notebook) computers, printers, and televisions.
I have attached the registration package for the Western Canada Computer Industry Association's (WCCIA) Electronic Product Stewardship Plan.
The Western Canada Computer Industry Association (WCCIA ) - previously the Western Canada Computer Distributor Society, in collaboration with Canada Electronic Waste Management (CEWM) - has submitted an Electronic Product Stewardship Plan to the Ministry of Environment, Province of British Columbia on behalf of its membership. A copy of the Electronic Product Stewardship Plan can be viewed at the WCCIA website. The WCCIA members consist of retailers, distributors, manufacturers, and importers of computer and television products. To comply with the new recycling regulation, all WCCIA members (or producers) will adopt and adhere to the Electronic Product Stewardship Plan.
The Recycling Regulation - B.C. Reg. 449/2004, can be found here:

A description of Schedule 3 - Electronic Product Category, can be found here:

Please complete the attached registration form and fax it back ASAP to ensure your organization complies with the Recycling Regulation.
If you have any questions or concerns, please call or send me an e-mail.
Sincerely,
John Crocock, President
