[FreeGeek] Self-Introduction

Hi Folks, my name is jules and i've been meaning to take part in Free 
Geek for a bit but have been slow.  But i'm here now and need to take part.

so who am i?  old-school geek.  the first machine i got to play with was 
the Commodore PET, had plenty of time on the Vic20, C64, the TRS-80, the 
Apple IIs. 

Been a database geek for 8 or 9 years.  Currently i use the (non-linux) 
Filemaker for my bread & butter. 

i've been an Ubuntu pusher since 4.10.  on my home machine, i run 
Xubuntu and until this weekend i had a smooth-running Beryl.  Then i 
decided it was time to move up to Feisty Fawn.  crashed all the nice effects

been an activist for most of my life.  started off with the Peace 
Marches in the late 80s.  Put in years with Adbusters.  Spent some time 
with the Purple Thistle.  Now putting time in with Momentum Mag.

So that's my capsule history. 
Looking forward to contributing in whatever turns out to be the most 
useful way that i can
