Move the drupal site to another domain

Set up email addresses. Do we need a server for email?

Who is admining the servers? Scott and Simi? Web Site / Drupal / email.
Who do you call if you want a machine set up?

Current system is Ad-hoc. Should think about how to go about setting up
the systems in the future? policies - What distro are we using? Probably
doesn't need a workgroup. No immediate issues with status quo.

Simi may be building a new machine that may be able to handle some Free
Geek stuff. We will have a system.

Try not to keep it on one box. Consolidation will be necessary.

Resolution: Design with the idea of where we are going to be [Scott:
wants to get a colo somewhere]

Dave: We want to align ourselves with older technologies as much as
possible.

Dave to look into what Portland bandwidth uses.

Portland to maintain the Wiki in the short term. Dave to confirm with
Portland maybe get Scott working with the Portland Wiki Admin.

Maybe look at mirroring in the future

Drupal 4.7.4

PHP 4

MySQL 4.0

Colours and themes?

   * classic - typewriter
   * anarchist leaflet
   * old school

Where are systems being back up and managed? No current backup
automated. We should set up an Rsync of some kind.

Who is contributing content? What about Drupal?

Dave, Scott, Ifny.

Create account = limited access:

Authenticated user - look at news post comments post without approval
(comments) link google maps, poll etc. - no post.

Two roles by default - anon / authenticated. two additional roles
[editor/admin]

New roles - contributors - we may have spam issues.

Contributor can be set up but they should go through some sort
'authentication'. i.e. an administrator role.

Update existing Drupal instance for the short term. Added Mission
Statement to top of Drupal page
Languages

What about other languages. They have been 'activated' in Drupal.
'speach bubble' concept for other languages on the home page.
Drupal language changes will only update the navigation, not the
content. Lets promote language translations in the Get Involved section.

Languages to be enabled

  1. Farsi
  2. Chinese traditional
  3. Chinese Simplified
  4. Korean
  5. Japanese
  6. French
  7. Possible First Nations
  8. Klingon (possibly through California)
  9. Tagolong (Philipines)

Look into prioritizing languages.

Look into grants for translations.

Should we get rid of 3rd party links?

Why are they ther: we want to show we are part of the Debian community.
Are they still necessary: In a sense yes. It puts us in a community
context. We should keep them but bury them somewhere

Drupal. Maybe put the login controls at bottom of home page.

rearanged some of the content on the Drupal page.

We want Drupal to not cut off the content the way it is as it is too
blog-like and is cutting off information.

Update 'sticky' content to indicate the current state of where we are.

Get rid of News Aggregator Link from main Drupal page

Wiki terminology distinction between Portland and Vancovuer. there are
concerns about the terminology and regulation issues between Canada / US.

The Wiki terminology is confusing. Ifny changed name of Wiki link to
just Wiki as opposed to Mothership Wiki. Possible interim page to help
disitinguish what we are going to when we click on a wiki link.

Things may get hashed out on the wiki and then as they get established
as policy they can be integrated back into a non-editable page.

Free Geek is TWO words. technically all in caps.
Some edits were made to the layout of the Drupal Site. update the header
text and logo. Removed some blocks from the site.

Integrate into the community at large

What does Free Geek Vancouver about.

  1. What do we do
  2. Who we are
  3. How to contact
  4. Events
  5. How to get involved
  6. Latest news
  7. 3rd party community links
  8. Discussion List Archive
  9. Blog Posts
