  Freedonia was founded in 1997 by Gary Moffatt as an expression of his
 lifetime commitment to anarchism and to building social and economic
 alternatives to capitalism. In keeping with this anti-authoritarian vision,
 Freedonia is a catalyst for the development of movements promoting radical
 democratic and systemic change.

  In our 2007 Granting Period, Freedonia is accepting applications from
 groups who are creating economic alternatives to capitalism. This may
 include:

  - organizing around economic issues;
  - organizing around alternative economic models;
  - participatory research and development of practical economic
 alternatives; and - building capacity and tools within groups working to
 address economic alternatives.

  Freedonia generally makes grants up to $5,000, but in exceptional cases
 will consider funding projects up to $10,000. Requests for grants of up to
 $500 can be made at any time. Freedonia funding is limited to projects
 located within Ontario and British Colombia, Canada.

  Freedonia recognizes and values the diversity of our communities and our
 movements. Freedonia is committed to ending all forms of discrimination and
 to the realization of full social and economic equality. In this spirit,
 Freedonia takes proactive measures regarding funding applicants from equity
 seeking groups. Favourable consideration will be given to projects that
 expressly and actively promote social and economic equality.

  Applications for the 2007 Granting Period must be submitted by Fri 16
 February 2007

  If you have an innovative project that is focused on building economic
 alternatives, please visit http://www.freedonia.ca to find out whether your
