Hello All:

We have been receiving complaints lately that we haven't been sending any updates out
over our list - and alas, it is true - we have been bad about keeping our list and
website up to date.. but we have a few things upcoming that we would like to share with
you.

The Flying Folk Army recently returned from playing Seattle Folklife which was a great
time as usual (this was our third year playing there). Some of us participated in a
panel about politics and music which was shared with Jim Page and Pat Knight - both
lontime social justice activists and musicians who rock our world. Red Emma's Dance
Band rounded out the panel and it was a really great chance for the few hundred people
watching to hear about the motiviations and histories behind the politicaly themed
music that we play. We rounded out the day by playing a long set at the Labour Show -
which we shared with the Red Emmas, The Seattle Labour Choir and some spoken word
artists. The only unfortunate thing about the trip was the car accident we got in the
night before our show (we were rear-ended, and we're mostly okay so no cause for
alarm).

This summer, we don't have many shows in the city booked but our plans include two
festivals, a local benefit and we're going back into the recording studio with the goal
of getting a 7-song EP out by the end of the summer.

Before I give our list of upcoming gigs - I would like to mention the July 1st, Chris
Chandler and Anne Feeney will be playing a show at the WISE Hall. Long-time political
folkies, these friends of ours are really a treat to watch and we encourage you to
check them out. They even do a cover of one of our songs (Round-up Ready) which
flatters us to no end :)

Here is the list of upcoming shows (sorry - nothing in June):

July 18-21 - We will be on the road and playing the South County Fair on the 20th which
is in Fort Mcleod, Alberta. We are trying to line up a show for the 18th in Nelson if
possible, details on any other stops along the way will be forthcoming.

July 25th - Benefit Show for No One is Illegal - WISE Hall. No One is Illegal is a
political advocacy and activist organization that fights for the rights of immigrants
and refugees. The work they are doing is crucial to human rights for all people, and we
encourage you to come out and support them. We will be playing alongside a variety of
other musicians from all musical backgrounds. Entry will be by donation ($10 suggested
- no one turned away for lack of funds). Sorry, no kids due to repressive liquor laws.

August 9th - Clayoquot Sound Festival - Tofino, BC - Can you believe it has been 10
years since the Clayoquot Summer? (we think that indicates we're getting old). To
celebrate that moment of mass resistance, the Friends of Clayoquot Sound are having a
festival with lots of music, activist workshops and more. We will provide more details
on our time of appearance and other events of the day once we get them.

As usual, we want to say thanks to all of you who have supported us over the years. In
case you forgot, May 1st was our 5th Birthday as a band and without the community
behind us we would never have made it here. In these times of terrible government, both
provincially and elsewhere - the Flying Folk Army stands in solidarity with our
community in resisting the devastating attacks that many people in this province are
now facing. We encourage all of you to continue the struggle against BC Liberals and
others who would make our world a much worse place. If we all stand together - WE WILL
WIN!

Yours in revolution and revelry,
the flying folk army
