Hey all!

So, the Flying Folk Army gigs at folklife were a tremendous success - both
shows went well, the audiences really dug us, and we couldn't have
asked for better weather or a groovier hotel.... Now that we're back, we
through we would give you a little update on our next bunch of shows into
the summer so that you can fill up your social calendars with flying folk
events if you so choose!

Sunday, June 02 - ANTI-POVERTY COMMITTEE BENEFIT - with Dave Lippman from
North Carolina and local latin group Candelaria. Come out to the WISE Hall
(1882 Adanac) on Sunday night and give your entertainment dollars to
fighting this terrible Liberal government. The Anti-Poverty Committee is
currently waging a campaign against the $6 minimum wage as well as the
onslaught of welfare cuts. All money brought in at the door will go directly to the
downfall of the provincial government (and why stop there!?) Doors at
7:00, Show at 8:00 - $5-$10 sliding scale admission. (no one turned away
for lack of funds)

Saturday, June 08 - The FLYING FOLK ARMY and ZEELIA - an community show.
Come out and dance the night away to the sounds of eastern europe and east
vancouver - and be ready for a special grand finale involving both bands.
The fun starts at 8:00 at the Ukranian Hall in Strathcona (805 E. Pender).
Beverages will be served and THIS IS AN ALL-AGES SHOW - so bring your
kids! $5-$10 sliding scale admission. (no one turned away for lack of
funds).

Friday, July 12th - AT WORK - The Flying Folk Army will be playing this
multimedia show themed around the issues of working in the service
industry. Be prepared for a night of spoken word, theatre, and music
touching on themes of work, alienation and resisting the machine. The
gallery show opens at 7, and performance starts at 8:00. The Flying Folk
Army will take the stage shortly after 10 to close out the night with
music to start the service-worker rebellion by! All this will be taking
place at the Ironworks Studio (235 Alexander Street). Admission by
donation.

Saturday, August 10th - SEATTLE ANARCHIST PICNIC & DANCE PARTY - we might
be playing in seattle on this date - but will let you know more as we get
details on the event.

Sunday, August 11th - UNDER THE VOLCANO - We just confirmed that we will
be playing the mainstage at UTV in Cates Park (North Vancouver), this year
- some time in the late afternoon/early evening. Check out

13th Annual Festival of Art and Social Change!
