Supply Drive for Indigenous Food Sovereignty Farm, Cyale
Flo and Wolverine have been fighting for their rights and sovereignty for
decades. Since Wolverine's passing last year, Flo and her grandson Troy and
the Secwepemc people have continued with the work of growing food for those
who need it in their nation and for Unist'ot'en and other front lines. Read
more of their story below.
A group of supporters from the coast and the prairies are gathering
supplies for a work camp that is happening this spring. This help is needed
and has been requested, as Flo and her family plan to expand their growing

Cyale means gathering place. It is the Secwepemc word for, “The Hollow in
the Hillside Where People Gather”, such as the one on Flo’s land. People
would come for giveaways to this place since time immemorial. The farm is
called Cyale to continue this legacy and tradition: to grow food for the
Secwepemc nation and for other nations fighting for their lands. Flo is a
Secwepemc Elder, supported by a community of family, friends, warriors, and
supporters.
The farm is in Adam’s Lake First Nation, near Chase in so-called BC. They
have been transporting a big portion of their harvest ever year to the
Unist’ot’en Yintah as well as to other Indigenous frontlines. As Secwepemc
families and warriors gear up to put their bodies in the way of
construction on the Kinder Morgan Pipeline project, the food grown by Flo
and her supporters will be more crucial than ever.
The foods grown at Cyale are heirloom varieties of fruits and vegetables.
Seeds are saved from each harvest to be used in the next years planting as
well as to be shared with other food sovereignty projects. Flo’s work is
not only providing nourishment for Indigenous Land Defenders today, she is
also safeguarding food sovereignty for future generations
Thank you for your support! These donations make it easier for this work to
keep going, and will be well-used and appreciated.
