TWO ACTIONS SUPPORTED BY DTES NOT FOR DEVELOPERS COALITION

=== === ===
SATURDAY JANUARY 12

Stand for Social Housing!
Protest Sequel 138 Condos!

Saturday January 12
12noon-1pm
Tinseltown mall, south-west corner (outside Starbucks)

The Social Housing Coalition BC is rallying at dozens of locations around
the city and the province every Saturday until the provincial election in
May. These community actions will demand social housing and work to make it
an election issue.

This Saturday's action in the DTES is significant because it is doubling as
a protest against condo gentrification and BC Housing's criminal support
for Sequel 138 condos in the heart of the DTES low-income community.

We will be gathering outside of Tinseltown mall, where the Sequel 138 condo
sales centre is located to demand NO CONDOS! SOCIAL HOUSING NOW!

For more information about the BC Housing bailout of Sequel 138 condos see:

MONDAY JANUARY 14

Join the DTES NO PIPELINES NO GENTRIFICATION contingent at the
“Enbridge Noise Demo: No consent, no pipelines!”

Rally & March
Monday Jan 14
5pm @ VictorySq
Meet 4:30pm at Carnegie to march to the demo together behind a NO
DISPLACEMENT banner

Rising Tide is calling for a broad based mobilization against pipelines on
the opening day of Vancouver hearings of the Joint Review Panel in
Enbridge’s proposed Northern Gateway pipeline.

The demonstration will demand climate and environmental justice and
challenge the corporate state consultation process, which has nothing to do
with genuine consent of indigenous and affected communities. It will stand
in full solidarity with indigenous and other communities resisting
Enbridge, Kinder Morgan, Pacific Trails and other pipelines, and the Tar
Sands.

In the DTES Woodward’s and other condo projects promote aggressive
gentrification and begin another cycle of displacement that will lead to
skyrocketing rents and land values, and increased homelessness and
involuntarily displacement of DTES residents from their own community. This
includes many indigenous people, who experience the highest rates of
homelessness. Low-income residents have never consented to condos and
gentrification.

gentrification” statement supporting the Jan 14 action)
