Fellow Workers, Friends, Saturday October 31, at 2 PM
at https://meet.jit.si/IWWLocal13Meeting Union stewards, activists, community organizers, please come to an online community meeting to begin forming a regional strike committee and to plan a San Diego "next day" action in the event of a coup. A growing number of union locals (see Labor Notes article below) are calling for strike action in the event of anything like a coup. AFL-CIO President Richard Trumpka has publicly stated that workers will not accept a coup, but we cannot depend upon union officials to take the lead in making anything happen, if and when. It will be up to rank and file people in every community to form strike planning committees and to spread the strike.

The San Diego local branch of the IWW has adopted this resolution: "In the case of any illegitimate transfer or retention of power or coup in the federal election, the San Diego IWW Local 13 calls for a general strike. An illegitimate transfer or retention of power may include, but is not limited to, voter intimidation, mass voter disfranchisement through impounded ballets, extraordinary legal means, or organized violence." Without stating favor or disfavor for any of the ideas or plans reported in these articles, we offer them to broaden the discussion at our meeting. Please share with us here any other material you find. https://labornotes.org/2020/10/unions-are-beginning-talk-about-staving-possible-coup https://labor4sustainability.ourpowerbase.net/civicrm/mailing/view?reset=1&id=583 See you on Saturday!
