Hey all!
Here's what's been going on with me:
I've gone to Sailor's for couple of hours once each week for the past two
weeks. I've done dishes, cleaned bathroom, swept a little, made food/done
food prep, and generally hung out and had a great time. I called and picked
up a few groceries on my way last time, and that seemed like a good thing I
would do again. I was initially kind of worried about the length of the
trip to Surrey (I live in East Van), but it's quick once you're on the
skytrain and easy to find. I generally get a little anxious when I'm
outside my geographical comfort zone, but I'm already feeling more
comfortable. If people are worried about 3-zone fare, also keep in mind
that after 6:30pm on weekdays and all day on the weekends it's just 1-zone
fare.
As for the questions:
1) I'm going to go with semi-frequently, but because of my health
issues/school/child-care work schedules I kind of need to play it by ear.
There will probably be times when I can do weekly, and times when I'm not
able to for a month of busy school times or something. I used the care
calendar once and thought it was a great idea, but Sailor mentioned (and I
saw) that no one else was, so I'm trying to be good about checking in by
phone to let them know what my capacity is and when. I'm going to start
using the online care calendar again, and hopefully others will too. Since
my schedule's all over the place, I think it's a good system.
2) I'm down for all three, although moving super heavy things or full-day
projects are tricky for me in terms of my disabilities.
3) To be honest, I don't, really. My mental capacity is also pretty limited
to the three areas of help listed in the email, and not so much with
organizing. Like I said, I'm going to start using the care calendar all the
time and keep looking at my weekly schedule for where there might be room
and setting aside time.
