[Busriders-van] Re: diesel fuels - less PR, more smart choices

Dale:
Take all 'diesel smokers' off the street - buses, trucks, pick-ups, VW Jettas, the lot. Fix 'em or dump 'em.

Replace diesel buses with natural gas buses and/or smaller 'alternative fuel' minibuses.

That's for a start. Then look at LRT for the backbone of the grid and do an efficient job of building everything else to build into that backbone: buses, minibuses, trams, carpooling, bicycle lanes and pedestrian walkways - as it were to flesh out the body of our transportation system.

And before anyone says we can't afford to do all that, I would ask, "So how can we afford to go subterranean on yet another SkyTrain boondoggle to YVR?

There is so much more I could write but, suffice it to say, that as long as we keep on wasting billions on techno-legacies that cannot do the job, we'll never be able to afford to implement the systems that would do the job!

Cheers,

Liz

So, what does he suggest as an alternative?
