THIS WEEK: BRU Dance-a-thon

Support the first ever Bus Riders Union dance-a-thon by pledging one of our
supporters, members or organizers who are lending their passion for dancing
to raise funds so that we can continue doing grassroots organizing in our
communities.  Our 'dancers' need YOUR pledge so they can work their magic at
the dance-a-thon.  With a donation of $10, at $2 per song, the 'dancer' will
dance to 5 songs at our dance-a-thon.  And just because it's dancing,
doesn't mean there's no work involved! Our dancers are giving their time and
skills to honour each dollar you donate! Not to mention all the sweating and
heavy cardio involved!

Your financial contribution goes a long way for us to continue doing
grassroots organizing in the community.  Bus Riders Union active members and
organizers work hard to develop campaigns that address the transit needs of
the poor and marginalized. Right now, we're working on our *Stop the Fare
Increase! Buy 500 buses by 2010!* campaign.  We've had a busy summer of
mobilizing bus riders to speak out at the TransLink & GVRD meeting, on-going
leafletting & organizing on the buses and taking to the streets with a rally
& march. And more is to come in the upcoming months with a TransLink
meeting & a day of action if they raise the fares in 2008.

*You can pledge one of our 'dancers' by:*
1. Dropping by our office
2. Mailing in a cheque
3. Attending the dance-a-thon

You are invited to attend the dance-a-thon, where our dancers will be
gettin' down & shakin' it to the number of songs pledged, on Saturday Sept
29th, 2007 @ 7pm at the Organizing Centre for Social and Economic Justice
(672 E. Broadway at Fraser).   We will have snacks and it will be
child-friendly.
