TRANSLINK MEETING  - Wednesday, May 16, 9:00am
@ District of North Vancouver City Hall
Come out to speak truth to power and expose the crisis of overcrowding in
our transit system.  Make your voice heard! The BRU and allies is mobilizing
to demand that the TransLink board vote to purchase at least 55 more buses
this year.   Speakers must sign up by Saturday, May 12th - contact the BRU
at 604-215-2775 or email busridersunion at gmail.com for more information.  Bus
tickets and snacks will be provided.

STUDY: WHAT IS ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE?  - Friday, May 18, 7:00pm
@ Organizing Centre for Social and Economic Justice (672 E. Broadway - at
Main Street)
Join us for an evening of open discussion about environmental justice.  What
does 'environmental justice' mean?  How does it relate to our experiences as
bus riders in Vancouver?  This study will be based on a short reading that
is available from the Bus Riders Union over email - just email us to ask for
a copy, or drop by our office to pick a copy up.  Snacks and coffee will be
served.

ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE FOR ALL -  A public forum on privatization, global
warming & public transportation - Wednesday, May 23, 7:00pm
@ Mount Pleasant Neighborhood House (800 East Broadway)

The Bus Riders Union (BRU) is hosting a public forum to shed light on the
recent 'green agenda' announced by the Federal Government and Provincial
government, which only demonstrate their commitment to neoliberal policies
that will not address urgent issues of global warming and public health.
Forum speakers include: Eric Doherty (Society Promoting Environmental
Conservation),  Karen Campbell (the Pembina Institute), Organizers from the
Alliance for Peoples Health, Organizers from the Bus Riders Union.
