Help Win the Fight for 100 New Buses
at the Next TransLink Meeting

*In response to crisis conditions of overcrowding on our buses and the
grassroots pressure of the Bus Riders Union Ride With Dignity campaign,
TransLink will hear a motion to make an unplanned purchase of new buses, at
their next meeting on Wednesday, April 18th.*

 The *Ride With Dignity* campaign kicked into high gear earlier this year
with the demand that TransLink buy 100 new buses in 2007 and 500 new buses
by 2010.  For the mom who can't get on the overcrowded bus with her stroller
and her kids; for the low-wage worker who has to spend an hour and a half
standing on the bus after a whole day on her feet at work; for the
wheelchair-bound student who gets passed by because the bus isn't accessible
or is simply too full; for the senior who has to fight through a crowd just
to get off the bus; WE NEED MORE BUSES NOW!

 Now is the time to increase pressure on TransLink!  The proposal coming
forward from staff is to buy 45 new buses this year.  But we need
significantly more than that to make a dent in the deplorable conditions we
see region wide.  Get involved in the campaign and help win 100 new buses:

 *Join the BRU for the April 18th TransLink Meeting: *We need to show our
strength, organization and solidarity at this TransLink meeting to send a
strong message to the TransLink Directors to do the right thing. Call the
BRU to confirm your attendance at the meeting and arrange car pooling.
